What does the Funza Lushaka Bursary cover?
Funza Lushaka bursary cover all the basic expenses of the recipient. The expenses include tuition, full accommodation, including food, books, study materials and a small monthly living allowance. The award of an individual student is limited by a certain value. If the university is higher than the set value, the scholarships must be filled from own funds. Universities have different cost structures, so the total cost of the bursary varies from institution to institution.
Conditions for reapeting a year are as follows:
The bursary period can be extended to include an additional year required to complete a diploma program, or one additional course to complete the PGCE program. Only one such extension will be provided. Funding for one year of additional training (ie 5th year) is not automatic but will be discussed on a case by case basis. In cases where support is provided for an additional year, the student service obligation is extended by one year. Additional extra time required at the expense of the recipient. The course is resumed immediately for one academic year. If successful, the scholarship may be renewed annually until the recipient qualifies as a teacher.

You must apply for a teaching qualification (B Ed or PGCE) or a bachelor’s degree (for example BSc, B Tech, BA) to take at least one major subject in a priority field at your university. Upon admission to the university, you must apply for a bursary via this website.
